Understanding your natural motivational tendencies will give you the edge and help that you need to maximize your performance.
We are all motivated differently. Understanding our motivational drives and how to fuel them is one of the main keys to getting to what we call a flow state. In a flow state, we experience momentum and breakthrough. Things are much easier to do and get done. Even the activities that we would normally find difficult become much easier. The flow happens from within, and it manifests outwardly through the work and activities we are doing toward accomplishing a specific goal or set of goals.
Your motivational design is the arrangement of the various components that create your unique motivation. It produces things such as our distinct abilities, desires, methodologies and perspectives. Ultimately, motivational design is the special way we are wired and the internal drive that allows us to accomplish things and live life in a specific way.
It is the unique way we are wired to perceive, interact with and contribute to the world. Our motivational design is made up of seven components. These seven components are seven distinct focuses and drives that motivate and connect us to the elements and dynamics around us that are needed to sustain life and build society. They are connected to a set of abilities and processes in our design that are given to us to accomplish some very specific results. They are designed to motivate us toward the activity that makes a demand on the governing dynamics in the world. These actions yield specific results, benefits and products that we use to live and build our world. This means that through these components, we are able to consciously and unconsciously access the governing dynamics that are in operation around us. This allows the components of our motivational design to become a sort of conduit through which we benefit from these dynamics, and it allows us to do our work and accomplish the goal of our motivations. We have these seven components in varying amounts, which creates a unique arrangement. This unique arrangement gives us our unique disposition, focus and drive in life.
